Towers Perrin Analytics Team--Philadelphia
The Towers Perrin analytics team could probably staff the mathematics faculty of a well respected university department. The team has that strong a reputation and is considered by some cedents to be the industry's up-and-coming analytics operation.

"They're not a large firm, but they do tremendous analytics," says one large cedent. "They've done some work and analysis for us on our treaties that no one else, I think, could have done. The thinking reflected in the work was outstanding."

Although the team has a strong mathematical background, it also includes actuaries, accountants and financial analysts and offers an array of analytical services. Those services include the usual catastrophe and reinsurance portfolio modeling. In addition, the team helps clients understand how to present and provide the ratings houses with the kind of analysis third-party organizations need.

The focus of the Analytical Services Group is to provide its clients with the kind of information that will help them manage business risks. In particular, that means a review of expected reinsurance costs and assumptions, including any anticipated changes, with the objective of developing an analysis of the risks vs. the rewards in the context of reinsurance and alternative risk structures.
