Liberty Mutual hired Michael A. Barkasy as a regional vice president and managing director in the National Market unit, which meets the complex insurance needs of large companies. Barkasy will be based in Wayne, Pa., with responsibilities for Delaware, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and West Virginia. He previously served as senior vice president for marketing at ACE USA.

The Hanover Insurance Group named Andrew R. Knipfer regional vice president for commercial lines. Working out of The Hanover's Milwaukee office, Knipfer will oversee all aspects of commercial lines business for the company's Wisconsin territory. Knipfer, who joined The Hanover in 2004, most recently served as commercial lines branch manager for The Hanover's Grand Rapids, Mich., territory.

USI announced the appointment of Frank Pulito, senior vice president, to the role of director of sales and marketing for USI Connecticut's employee benefits operation. Pulito has been with the firm since 2001 and brings more than 25 years of employee benefits experience to his new role. He has worked in sales, consulting, marketing and management positions at a large national insurance company, a local HMO organization, a third-party administrator and a full-service employee benefits agency. USI Connecticut, formerly Webster Insurance, is based in Meriden, Conn., and recently joined USI Holdings Corp. as part of its New England Region.
