Marsh has appointed GREG ARMS as global head of the firm's Employee Benefits Practice. Based in New York, Arms will be responsible for leading the firm's employee benefits business around the world. Most recently, he was chairman and CEO of Willis Group Holdings' Global Employee Benefits Practice, where he established a new global business division from previously independent, domestic and international units. Earlier, he served as chief marketing officer and international CEO of UnitedHealth Group and spent 24 years at American International Group Inc.
Aon Corporation has appointed PAUL HAGY as corporate treasurer. He will be responsible for capital management, money and capital markets, financial risk management, cash management, bank and rating agency relationships, and operational risk management. Hagy, who joined Aon in 2002, most recently served as vice president, investments and treasury. Previously, he served in corporate treasury positions at GE Capital Corporation, Heller Financial and Household International.
Aon has hired MICHAEL GROSSI as executive vice president in the Hawaii office of Aon Risk Services Inc. Additionally, he will serve the Aon Construction Services Group as managing director. Prior to joining Aon, Grossi was with Atlas Construction Services and provided surety and insurance brokering services as well as captive consulting to the largest construction and real estate development accounts domiciled in Hawaii.
Willis Group Holdings Limited has appointed GERRY MCCARTHY as senior vice president and regional director of the construction and real estate claim teams of Willis of New York Inc. Prior to joining Willis, McCarthy was senior vice president at Allied North America, where he managed the claim department. Before that, he was co-managing attorney of the construction practice group at Jones Hirsch Connors & Bull, P.C., an insurance defense litigation firm in New York.
Willis has also appointed WILL THORETZ as vice president, group communications. Based in New York, he most recently served as senior vice president and chief communications officer at VNU N.V. (now The Nielsen Company), a global information and media company that includes ACNielsen and Nielsen Media Research. Prior to that, he was responsible for financial communications at Philip Morris Companies Inc.
Lockton Cos. has named MICHAEL MCFADDEN
executive vice president for the company's New York operations. McFadden will specialize in providing transaction-related insurance products and employee benefit due diligence for acquisition-minded clients. McFadden most recently served as managing director and North American sales leader of Marsh's private equity and mergers practice.
JOSEPH ZIEGLER has been named chief operating officer for Lockton Affinity, a specialty insurance program administrator for associations, franchises and affinity groups, which is affiliated with Lockton, the world's largest privately held independent insurance broker. Ziegler most recently worked as vice president-program executive for Lockton Affinity.
Wells Fargo Insurance Services Inc. has named NATHAN HUGHES national healthcare practice leader. Hughes will be based out of Bloomington, Minn., and will continue to serve as senior vice president of Wells Fargo Insurance Services of Minnesota. In that capacity, he serves healthcare customers who have complex insurance needs. Those needs include medical malpractice, professional liability, directors' and officers' liability, and product liability. Before joining the insurance industry, Hughes practiced as a certified public accountant.
