London-based specialty insurer ACE Global Markets has named MATTHEW SHAW chief underwriting officer. Shaw was also named chairman of ACE Tempest Re Europe, where he was previously managing director. Shaw began his career more than 25 years ago at Lloyd's in aviation and nonmarine lines, underwriting both direct and reinsurance business. He joined London-based ACE Tempest Re Europe in 2002. ANDREAS LEWIN was named Shaw's successor as managing director at ACE Tempest Re Europe. He previously served as president and chief executive officer of ACE Tempest Re Bermuda, overseeing the reinsurer's property/casualty business in Bermuda.

The Chubb Corporation has recently promoted four executives. JOHN J. DEGNAN, formerly vice chairman and chief administrative officer, was promoted to vice chairman and chief operating officer. Degnan, a former Attorney General of New Jersey, joined Chubb nearly 18 years ago. PAUL J. KRUMP, 48, was promoted to executive vice president and chief underwriting officer, responsible for Chubb Commercial Insurance, Chubb Personal Insurance, Chubb Specialty Insurance and Surety. Krump, who joined Chubb 25 years ago, previously headed Chubb Commercial Insurance.

HAROLD L. MORRISON JR., who was previously in charge of U.S. field operations, was promoted to executive vice president and chief global field officer for Chubb. He is now in charge of the company's U.S. and international field operations, comprised of 120 offices in 28 countries. DINO E. ROBUSTO was promoted to executive vice president and chief administrative officer in charge of claims, information technology, human resources, communications, administrative services and external affairs. Robusto most recently headed Chubb's worldwide claims operations.

Zurich Financial Services Group has appointed MARIO P. VITALE to the new role of deputy CEO of Zurich's Global Corporate business division. The role was created to allow Geoff Riddell, CEO of Global Corporate, to devote time to expanding Zurich's opportunities in developing markets, including the Middle East and Greater China. Vitale will also become a member of the Group Management Board. He most recently served as CEO of Global Corporate in North America, after joining Zurich from Willis North America where he was CEO.

Zurich Financial Services Group has also appointed ANTOINE BARONNET to head of Private Banking Clients Solutions for Zurich's Global Life Insurance, effective July 1. In this newly created position, Baronnet will be evaluating Zurich's opportunities to offer wrapped investment portfolios with flexibility to meet highly affluent customers' needs. He joins Zurich from ABN AMRO, Luxembourg, where he has been global head of fiduciary products since 2000, and managing director, ABN AMRO Life, since 1996.

Zurich Global Corporate U.K. has named DAVID HALL as chief executive officer. Hall most recently served as director of market management and communications at Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty. He replaces David Martin who is now the head of customer and distribution management for Zurich Global Corporate.

MIKE KEELY has been promoted to vice president and head of the Ocean Marine Division at Markel Essex, a wholly owned subsidiary of Markel Corporation. Keely, who joined Markel Essex Ocean Marine in August 2002, most recently served as assistant vice president Ocean Marine, charged with product and personnel development.

Dallas-based privately owned insurance firm McQueary Henry Bowles Troy LLP, has hired JIM ANDERSON in its Dallas office as senior vice president in the firm's property and casualty group. Anderson will be responsible for the production and account management of property and casualty business accounts. Prior to joining MHBT, Anderson served as senior vice president for various large public brokers.
