Zachry, who never goes anywhere without his Blackberry, is a member of MySpace, FaceBook and LinkedIn.
"I am, frankly, much older than most of the people there, but I am not hiding what I am," he says. "I have my title, I have my age, I have a quote: 'Happiness is the bane of my existence.' And I think I have some photos there."
Why is Zachry a devotee of these Internet sites? In the short run, he says, "it's the way a lot of people communicate these days."
In the long run, Zachry sees staying current with these nouveau communications mediums as a way to keep from becoming isolated from the world--starting with his 27-year-old twin daughters.
Zachry has an aunt who is 90 years old who he is very close to.
"She lives about an hour from my house," he says. "I go see her once a month and take her out to breakfast. She doesn't do e-mail. I call her every night but I keep thinking I could do a lot more if she would do e-mail. So thinking of her situation," Zachry says, "I picture that if I reach a certain age and if I'm not involved with MySpace, LinkedIn and those kinds of things, I will be isolated."
