Zurich North America Commercial named Vibhu R. Sharma chief financial officer. Sharma previously served as executive vice president and chief operating officer for reinsurance broker John B. Collins Associates Inc. He also spent 17 years at CPA firm KPMG in Minneapolis, Kansas City and Dallas.

RICHARD RICHISKI was appointed head of distribution and regional management for the specialty business of Zurich North America. He will be responsible for overseeing the regional performances of the specialty division. Richiski has been with Zurich Specialties in executive positions for more than 12 years.

HARRY MAHLER was named chief of XL Insurance's global product management team. Based out of Hartford, Conn., he will be responsible for activities related to underwriting, regulatory affairs, product development and cycle management on a global scale for both P/C and specialty products. Mahler had been chief underwriting officer for Royal & SunAlliance Insurance Group PLC.

XL Insurance also appointed David J. Molitano to the new position of technology errors-and-omissions manager in the company's Select Professional underwriting group. Based in Boston, Molitano reports to Donald Allard, XL Insurance's chief underwriting officer for Select Professional. Molitano joins XL Insurance from Beasley USA, where he managed a book of miscellaneous, technology and media professional liability business. His professional career included stints at Lexington, Chubb and The Hartford.

Suzanne Nora Johnson was elected a director by the board of directors of American International Group Inc. Nora Johnson retired as vice chairman of The Goldman Sachs Group Inc. in 2007 after more than two decades in roles including the head of the Global Investment Research Division and the chairman of the Global Markets Institute.
