The Board of Directors of Erie Indemnity Co., managing company for the Erie Insurance Group, named Terrence W. Cavanaugh as president and CEO. Cavanaugh previously was with Chubb Corp. for 33 years, most recently serving as senior vice president and chief operating officer for its surety business. John J. Brinling Jr., Erie's interim president and CEO since August 2007, will support Cavanaugh's transition before returning to retirement.

OTTO N. FRENZEL IV was nominated and elected by the board of directors at Baldwin & Lyons Inc. to fill the seat vacated by his father, Otto N. Frenzel III, who retired. Frenzel is also chairman of The Symphony Bank and chairman of Kauffman Engineering. Baldwin & Lyons is an Indianapolis-based specialty P/C carrier that specializes in liability coverages for trucking fleets.

MICHAEL HUGHES is set to lead the staff of the new Oklahoma regional office of America First Insurance. Already a regional vice president, Hughes will oversee the underwriting-focused Oklahoma City and its 12 employees and expected $70 million in written premiums.

NEIL J. ROLLAND was named regional executive vice president of HCC Life Insurance Co. He will be responsible for the carrier's northwest regional office in Minnetonka, Minn., and will oversee underwriting and marketing for the medical stop-loss division in the 17-state northwest region. Rolland has held previous management positions with Minute Clinic Inc. and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota. HCC Life is a subsidiary of HCC Insurance Holdings Inc.
