Zurich North America Commercial announced the recent appointments of several executives to its new Surety, Credit and Political Risk group. DAVID HEWETT was named senior vice president of the Contract Surety group, a newly aligned group with responsibility over all contract surety accounts in Canada and the United States.
ANNE MARIE THURBER was named senior vice president and managing director of the Trade Credit and Political Risk group. Teams in the Americas, Asia, Europe and London will report to her. She has been with Zurich since 1999, when she started as a senior underwriter.
DICK YEAZEL has taken over the role of head of customer and distribution management, on top of his existing duties as executive vice president of Zurich Surety. He had been in charge of the creation and management of the Zurich international surety team.
was named senior vice president of strategy and growth initiatives and will be responsible for the strategy and execution of new products and markets. He joined Zurich in 1998 and last served as chief operating officer for Emerging Markets Solutions.
was appointed the senior vice president of operations for Zurich Surety, Credit & Political Risk. Previously, Bob was chief financial officer for the small business unit of Zurich North America.
KEVIN C. WERLE was named executive vice president and chief risk officer for Bermuda-based Max Capital Group. Werle will take over certain responsibilities formerly under the watch of Chief Operating Officer Peter Minton and Executive Vice President Jim Tees. Werle comes to Max Capital by way of New England Asset Management Asset Inc., where he was vice president responsible for risk management, IT and quantitative research.
Farmers Insurance Co. promoted MARK TOOHEY to senior vice president of media relations. Previously, Toohey was vice president, state legislative affairs.
ROBERT A. ROSHOLT was elected as an independent member of the board of directors of HCC Insurance Holdings Inc. Rosholt served as executive vice president and CFO for Nationwide before retiring recently.
