People on the Move: Life Insurance

MICHAEL ARCARO was named vice president of external affairs for AXA Equitable Life Insurance Co. He will report to CHRIS WINANS, who joined the company in August as senior vice president of external affairs, a new position still subject to board approval this month. Arcaro previously was a director of media relations at American International Group Inc. Winans also came from AIG, where he was vice president of media relations.

Zurich Financial Services Group made three new appointments within its Global Life group. CHRIS GILLIES was named head of growth and strategic marketing for Global Life. He will be responsible for delivering growth and strategic marketing initiatives. He was head of the IFA/Brokers distribution channel.

MARCUS NAGEL was appointed the new head of IFA/Brokers for Global Life, effective Oct. 1. In this position, Nagel will oversee the development of new markets and building upon existing markets to reach Zurich's distribution goals. Nagel joins Zurich from KWF Business Consultants.

JOE KESSLER took up the position of head of tied agent distribution, a new position within Global Life. Kessler has been with Zurich since 2005, first as marketing director for Openwork and then last as head of communications and marketing for Global Life.
