DON BAILEY has been announced the new chief executive officer of Willis North America. Bailey was the chief operating officer of Willis North America, and succeeds former CEO Mario P. Vitale. Vitale left to become CEO of Zurich's Global Corporate North American operations.
BISYS Commercial Insurance Services, an independent wholesale distributor of commercial P/C insurance with a national network of about 3,000 retail agents and brokers, has announced the hiring of KEN CORNELL as executive vice president for its JCH Environmental Insurance Brokers unit. Cornell comes from an executive position at American International Group Inc. The San Francisco-based BISYS recently bought JCH to provide environmental risk management solutions to oil, gas, mining and other industries.
The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America has named DAVE EVANS the new executive director of Trusted Choice, the company's independent agent branding initiative. Evans succeeds Jeff Myers as executive director. In addition to his new duties, Evans will continue to serve as publisher of Independent Agent magazine. He has been with the association since 1998.
ANDREW T. STARNES joined Integro as a principal in the property practice at its San Francisco office. Starnes comes from Allianz Global Risks U.S., where he was western region manager of business development. His specialties are large global and highly protected risk property coverage, underwriting, sales, claims adjustment and loss control.
The London-based Political Risk and Trade Credit practice of global risk and reinsurance intermediary Guy Carpenter & Co. Inc. welcomes several new members. RICHARD TRUEMAN, SEAMUS KERR, STUART GRANT, JOHN ORCHARD
and DAVID EDWARDS have all come over from Benfield. From Transatlantic Reinsurance Co. comes MARK CHAPPELS. Orchard was head of Benfield's Credit, Bond and Political Risk Team. Kerr had been responsible for facultative bond placements. Grant brings an expertise in Asian and Japanese markets, regarding bond and political risk. Edwards managed major accounts in London and the Asia-Pacific region. And Chappels comes with an underwriting broker managementbackground. At Guy Carpenter, the team will report to Nick Frankland, the broker's U.K. Casualty Practice leader.
