Lloyd's of London has recognized two U.S. brokers for their contribution to the Lloyd's market.

Garry Edwards, senior vice president and western region leader for the major accounts property practice of Glen Allen, Va.-based Hilb Rogal & Hobbs Co., was named Lloyd's 2005 surplus lines broker of the year.

William H. Eyre Jr., managing director and chief executive officer of the reinsurance arm of Towers Perrin in Philadelphia, was named reinsurance broker of the year.

The judging panel for the fifth-annual awards included Wendy Baker, president of Lloyd's America; Andrew Carrier, active underwriter of Kiln PLC's syndicates 510 and 557; Jonathan Gray, head of the property group at Beazley Group PLC; Julian James, head of worldwide markets at Lloyd's; and Jonathan Parry, active underwriter for Limit Underwriting Ltd.'s syndicate 566.
