ALICE UNDERWOOD was appointed to the board of directors of the Casualty Actuarial Society for a three-year term. She has served as assistant secretary of the board since 2006 and has held a number of leadership positions with the Casualty Actuaries of Greater New York, including president in 2008. Underwood leads the actuarial practice for North America at Willis Re, the reinsurance arm of global broker Willis.
The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America named C. BRETT NILSSON the new chairman of the association. Nilsson is senior vice president for The Buckner Company based in Ogden, Utah. He was first elected to the IIABA Executive Committee in 2003 and was named vice president in 2006.
The Western Insurance Agents Association named KATHY MCDONALD chairwoman for the 2008-2009 term. She recently joined the Watkin Insurance Group, LLC in Henderson, Nev.
KENNETH R. AUERBACH was elected president of the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents. Auerbach, a past president of the Professional Insurance Agents of New Jersey Inc., is managing director and general counsel for E&K Agency in Eatontown, N.J. He will serve a one-year term, which began Oct. 1.
MARKHAM R. MCKNIGHT
of Baton Rouge, La., was named the new chairman of The Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers. He succeeded George A. "Shad" Steadman III, president and chief operating officer of Rutherfoord of Roanoke, Va. McKnight has been president of BancorpSouth Insurance Services Inc. since 2005.
