Guide doesn't provide relief to claimants suffering from neck pain
According to the report, published in a recent issue of Spine journal, researchers from Concentra Health Services in San Antonio, Texas, examined the outcomes of more than 500 workers' comp claimants suffering from first-time neck pain. Some of the individuals were given The Neck Book, an educational booklet about patients' functional outcomes and beliefs about neck pain. Researchers previously found that another educational guide, The Back Book, had a positive impact on the beliefs and clinical outcomes of patients with low back pain.
However, according to the study, there were no significant differences between the outcomes of individuals who received the educational materials and those who did not.
