Massachusetts: Utilization review, quality assessment take effect
The Massachusetts Department of Industrial Accidents amended 452 CMR 6.00 to 6.07, Utilization Review and Quality Assessment, effective Aug. 21, 2009.
The provision governs payments to eligible providers of certain substance abuse services to publicly assisted clients and applies to individuals covered by the Workers' Compensation Act, MGL c. 152. The proposed amendments would ensure continued access to substance abuse programs and ensure that the payment rates are consistent with efficiency, economy, and quality of care. The amendments establish class rates for four substance abuse programs administered by the Department of Public Health and incorporate those program services and rates into the regulation. A hearing was scheduled for Oct. 27, 2009, in Boston. If adopted, the amendments would take effect Nov. 1, 2009.For more information, visit www.mass.gov.
