Atlanta-based Beecher Carlson announced additions to its staff. DAVID FORSYTH, former senior managing director at Frank Crystal & Co., was appointed head of Northern California operations.

GERALD LEVINE, who previously served as executive vice president of Meriden, Conn.-based Webster Insurance, has been named managing director, responsible for client development at the firm's risk management practice.

Beecher Carlson also hired MARK VELLA as a vice president in the company's executive liability team. Vella most recently served as a vice president in Marsh's FINPRO client advisor practice.

Guy Carpenter & Co., the reinsurance arm of the Marsh & McLennan Cos., has appointed RUPERT BEDFORD head of brokering for the U.K. operations of GCFac, the firm's facultative reinsurance unit. Bedford previously was an executive director in the London Global Property and Casualty Division at Aon Ltd.

New York-based Integro Insurance Brokers opened a new office in Nashville, Tenn., to be led by managing principal GREG DANIELS and principal SHEILA BAUER. Daniels joins Integro after 24 years with Marsh, where he most recently was senior vice president and life sciences practice leader. Bauer was previously a vice president at Atlanta-based broker Potter Holden & Co.

Boston-based insurance brokerage William Gallagher Associates promoted EDWARD FLANAGAN to senior vice president. Flanagan, an eight-year veteran of the firm, now serves clients in WGA's technology practice.

Marsh Inc. made three recent appointments. ROBERT PETRIE will now serve as head of global operations, JEFFREY SHARER has been appointed head of global operational risk management and SCOTT LAIKEN is the new head of global strategic planning.

Petrie, who has been with Marsh for 20 years, most recently headed up the firm's Americas Operating Group.

Sharer joins Marsh from Goldman Sachs, where he led corporate insurance and risk advisory services.

Laiken was previously with the insurance practice of Oliver Wyman, another subsidiary of Marsh & McLennan Cos.
