The American Society of Business Publication Editors honored Risk & InsuranceŽfour times during its 29th Annual Azbee Awards of Excellence competition.

The work of Roger Crombie earned national recognition. His "Roger on Risk" column is a reader (and editor) favorite. The judges at ASBPE obviously took a liking to Crombie's sometimes esoteric, sometimes acerbic--and always witty--look at the world of insurance, as provided in two particular columns from 2006: "Peddling the Re-Cycled Life" from the Sept. 15 issue and"Insurance? What's the Use?" from the Dec. 1 issue.

The judges designated Crombie the bronze winner in the national "Regular Column--Contributed" category.

Risk & InsuranceŽalso earned a regional bronze award in the "Original Research" category for a piece by workers' compensation consultants Maddy Bowling and David Huth--"Core Values Revealed" from the Nov. 1, 2006, issue.

Two Point/Counterpoint editorials from Managing Editor Cyril Tuohy and Associate Editor Matthew Brodsky also garnered a regional bronze award in the "Regular Column--Staff Written" category. The first, on the generation gap in the insurance industry, was from the June 1, 2006, issue. The second, on the dangers/opportunities of being promoted to chief risk officer, came out of our Aug. 1, 2006, issue.

ASBPE judges also honored another frequent contributor, naming author and senior contributing editor Steve Yahn as a bronze Azbee winner in the regional "Feature Article" category for his piece on art title insurance from the Dec. 1, 2006, issue, titled "Securing the Chain."

ASBPE, a 43-year-old professional group for editors and writers in the business, trade and specialty press, holds one of the biggest and most competitive competitions for business and professional magazines. More than 2,600 entries are submitted and judged by other business editors, consultants, scholars and designers.

All of the winning pieces mentioned above can be found in our magazine archive at www.riskandinsurance.com.
