Washington: DLI seeks comments on classifications

The Washington State Department of Labor and Industries issued a preproposal statement of inquiry for revising its classifications under WAC 296-17A (classifications for workers' compensation insurance).

The department is required by law to establish and maintain a workers' compensation classification plan for all occupations or industries within the state and to set basic premium rates for the classifications. Initial research indicated a need for a more thorough review of certain classifications associated with the construction trades. Parties interested in the rules can submit comments to: Richard Bredeson, P.O. Box 44140, Olympia, WA 98504; bred235@lni.wa.gov; or call (360) 902-4985. Public hearings will be held after the proposal is filed. For more information, visit www.lni.wa.gov.
