Insurers Appear in the Clear

It appears that insurance companies can wipe the mortgage-backed sweat off their brows.

Standard & Poor's conducted an analysis of all of the insurance companies and reinsurers it rates the world over, as of their exposure on June 30, 2007, to see just how deep they were into the U.S. subprime mortgage-related mess.

The main conclusion of S&P's published report on insurers and mortgage-backed securities is that these companies should survive.
