Illinois: WC board defines fee schedule for geozip 607

Illinois ambulatory surgical treatment centers in geozip 607 now have their own fee schedule.

The Illinois Workers' Compensation Act defines a geozip as areas sharing the first three digits of the ZIP code. The geozip 607 includes Chicago and Niles, Ill. When the ambulatory surgical treatment center schedule was created in 2009, it was based on the hospital outpatient schedule. Because there is no hospital in 607, the schedule in that geozip defaulted to POC76. (i.e., pay 76 percent of charge). The Workers' Compensation Advisory Board tries to avoid the POC76 default whenever possible. If a geozip does not have charge data, the law allows the commission to use charges from other geozips to calculate fees. At a meeting in May, the board recommended the adoption of the 616 schedule for geozip 607. For more information, visit www.state.il.us/agency/iic.
