AIR Worldwide Corp. already has released an AIR Current on the wildfires, by vice president Glen Daraskevich. Daraskevich analyzes the evolution of the many fires that made up the event and provides eye-witness detail from AIR's damage survey.
Risk Management Solutions Inc. released this loss estimate for the Witch Fire and other Southern California fires soon after the event flared up.
For a historical perspective on wildfires, check out Eqecat Inc.'s evaluation in its report titled "The Southern California Wildfires of 2003." The 2003 fires were the second most expensive, having caused as much as $2.5 billion in losses. The most expensive fires to date were the 1991 Oakland Hills Fires, with insured losses reaching nearly $4 billion in today's dollars.
