Microinsurance provides tremendous opportunities to individuals and businesses in the developing world, as well as global insurance carriers. Here's a listing of some of the key folks who are making it all possible.

Access to Insurance Initiative: a global program to enhance access to microinsurance for low -income clients.

Accion International: A nonprofit specializing in microfinance that's making a big push into microinsurance.

Centre for Financial Regulation and Inclusion (Cenfri): a nonprofit thinktank based in Cape Town whose mission is to support financial-sector development and financial inclusion through better regulation and market provision of financial services.

ILO/Microinsurance Innovation Facility: by far the largest donor at this point of time.

LeapFrog Investments: The world's first microinsurance, funded in part by global insurance partners.

MicroEnsure: an insurance intermediary dedicated to serving the poor throughout the developing world.

Microinsurance Academy: a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing structured technical assistance in microinsurance to organizations that focus on low-income communities.

Microinsurance Centre LLC: This organization helps to build partnerships between delivery channels on the ground and the insurance companies.

Microinsurance Network: Check out the network member listing for a who's who of the academics and global insurance insiders in this emerging, niche business.

Munich Re Foundation: organizer of the Annual International Microinsurance Conference and co-publisher of the Microinsurance Compendium.
