Connecticut: Insurance commissioner resigns before gubernatorial election
Insurance Commissioner Thomas Sullivan left his post in November to take a position at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in Hartford.
Various pro-consumer and union groups had pressured outgoing Republican Gov. Jodi Rell to fire Sullivan due to what they said was his failure to respond to consumer issues. They claimed Sullivan tended to side with insurers. Sullivan said his last day as commissioner was Nov. 12. Sullivan was appointed by Rell in 2007 to replace Susan F. Cogswell, whom Rell had asked to resign. Rell did not seek reelection.
