The 2011 Outlook for the Property/Casualty Insurance Industry

It's the end of the year, time for analysts and ratings agencies to release their previews of what's in store for the property/casualty insurance industry at year-end 2010 and during 2011.

Two major reports have already been released:

-- Fitch Ratings: Its 2011 property/casualty outlook suggests that no news is not good news. The 2011 performance of P/C could look similar to what happened in 2010 (i.e., a brutally soft market with unhelpful investment returns). The report is available for registrants at the Fitch website.

-- Keefe, Bruyette & Woods: Don't expect too much good news out of this 2011 outlook either. The KBW report details why these analysts believe the property/casualty industry is in for "tepid" growth for years.
