Minnesota: Rules would adopt changes to electronic document filing
The proposed rules reference the workers' compensation commissioner's authority to authorize electronic submission of documents. Additionally, the rules require that when an insurer or self-insured employer denies an injured worker's claim, the notice of denial must be served on the worker. Also, the rules no longer require that insurers notify the worker when payment of a medical charge is reduced according to the workers' compensation medical fee schedule. The proposal also allows the division to use an agency-assigned "workers' compensation identification number" instead of the worker's Social Security number as an identifier in maintaining workers' compensation files.
