The Division of Workers' Compensation adopted new regulations updating the workers' compensation information system.

The regulations require the electronic reporting of claims information to the division. The new rules increase the time for filing the first report of injury from five days to 10, relax several data edits to allow easier transmission of claim information with fewer submission rejections, and clarify the process for medical lien reporting. The regulations also update the electronic data interchange implementation guide for first and subsequent reports of injury and the electronic data interchange implementation guide for medical bill payment records. The regulations will become effective on Nov. 15, 2011. For full text of the regulations, visit www.dir.ca.gov/dwc/DWCPropRegs/WCIS_Regs/WCIS_RegulationsFinalClean.pdf.
