Power Broker®: About the Search
Each year, Risk & Insurance® solicits nominations nationwide for commercial insurance brokers deserving of special recognition.
The nominations come from brokerage firms, individual brokers themselves, colleagues, and risk executives or risk managers. Every nomination form lists references who've worked with brokers, and our writers then call the references to discuss whom they believe is most deserving. Brokers are judged mainly on customer service, depth of industry knowledge and what they've done for risk manages in the past 12 months.
Winners are identified through discussions between the editor and the writer, after the writer has spoken with the respective references. We break down the vast applicant pool across 24 industry categories and then select six brokers as winners in each industry in which they specialize. In addition, we reserve the right to name up to five finalists in each category when there are brokers not selected as winners but deserving of recognition. Finalists appear on our website only. We realize that the 144 winners profiled here on our 2011 Power BrokerŪ Landing Page represent a fraction of the brokers serving the commercial insurance marketplace. Many, many more qualified and dedicated brokers are doing exceptional work every day for their customers.
