People on the Move: Insurance

RAMANI AYER joined the board of directors of XL Group PLC. He is the former chairman and CEO of The Hartford Financial Services Group Inc., a position he retired from in 2009 and which was the culmination of 36 years with The Hartford.

WILLIAM H. BOLINDER was elected to serve as chairman of the board of directors at Endurance Specialty Holdings Ltd., effective March 3, 2011. Bolinder has been a member of Endurance's board of directors since December 2001 and the lead director since November 2006. He is currently chairman of the nominating and corporate governance committee and serves as a member of the underwriting and risk committees of the board.

DANIEL OWEN was named as senior vice president of the global property builders risk unit at Ironshore Inc. Owen has 20 years of experience in the engineering and industrial risk insurance sector and was most recently vice president of energy with Liberty International Underwriters.

TED DZIURMAN was appointed to the position of general manager and executive partner for Partner Reinsurance Europe Ltd. He previously served as head of the catastrophe unit for PartnerRe Ltd.

BRIAN SECRETT will take on the role of head of the catastrophe unit. The 20-year reinsurance veteran joined PartnerRe in 1994 and currently serves as chief underwriting officer and deputy head of catastrophe.

The Bermuda-based carrier also announced that ERIK RUTTNER will succeed Secrett as chief underwriting officer and deputy head of CAT. He has been with PartnerRe since 2008, serving at PERILS AG.

KEVIN A. KLESTINSKI was named vice president of property/casualty underwriting at Capitol Insurance Cos. Klestinski joined Capitol in 2006 and most recently served as director of property/casualty underwriting , independent agents.

The Middleton, Wisc.-based specialty carrier also announced that RICHARD F. BOETTNER was promoted to director of underwriting, brokerage and general agent binding, and that DAVID W. SCHIRMER was named to the position of director of audit and product development. Boettner joined Capitol in July 2002 and most recently served as director of property/casualty underwriting, brokerage. Schirmer joined Capitol in June 2003 and last served as director of underwriting, general agents.
