JOHN THURMAN was named regional vice president of the East Region of Risk Sciences Group, a provider of risk management information systems. Thurman began with the wholly owned subsidiary of Crawford & Co. in 1988 as a senior programmer and held several technical leadership positions before assuming the role of director of operations for the West Region in 1997.

RSG also named JIM COLLINS as regional vice president for the West Region. Collins joined RSG in 1997 after spending 26 years in various segments of the insurance industry.

MARK FARRELL joined Coventry Workers' Comp Services Inc. as senior vice president of sales and account management. Based in Philadelphia, he most recently worked as president of Intracorp.

BETSY ROBINSON comes to the Coventry division as senior vice president of product and marketing. The 25-year industry veteran most recently served as vice president of product, marketing and analysis at Intracorp.

DAWN PHILLIPS was named vice president of business development for the catastrophe and home health services division at MSC. She brings more than 20 years to the Jacksonville, Fla.-based post-injury workers' comp care management provider.

MSC also announced the hiring of four regional clinical specialists. RACHEL COX will serve as clinical specialist for the Southeast region. MARY MCDERMOTT was hired for the Northeast region. TARA MARTIN will serve the Central region. And JONNI APPLEFIELD will be responsible for the West region.
