People on the Move: Insurance

DOUGLAS G. ELLIOT was named as president of commercial markets at The Hartford Financial Services Group, effective April 6. Elliot previously served as president and CEO of HSB Group Inc. He started at Travelers in 1987 and since worked at Aspen Insurance Holdings.

MICHAEL DURNING joined GCube as executive vice president of client relations and business development. He joins the renewable energy insurer from AEGIS, where he served as vice president. His career includes stints at Marsh, NEIL, Hartford Steam Boiler and FM Global.

AL CACERES also comes to GCube, as senior vice president of renewables underwriting. Caceres was most recently with AEGIS Insurance Services as a senior property underwriter. He also previously worked at AIG, Starr and Marsh.

MICHELLE SEYMOUR-SMITH was promoted to chief financial officer at Arch Reinsurance Ltd. She has been with the Bermuda-based company since 2004 as vice president and controller. Previously, she worked at XL Capital.

Also promoted is SALLY PIMENTEL to vice president and financial controller. She joined Arch in 2004 as assistant controller. Before that, she worked at ACE Temptest Re Ltd.

DERMOT DICK was named as the new manager for the Middle East for XL Re. Most recently, he was CEO of Q-Re, and before that he worked at QIC and Lloyd's Syndicate 1243.

ALAN S. OGILVIE was promoted to the position of chief operating officer at Capitol Insurance Cos. He joined the specialty insurance company in 2004 and previously served as vice president, general counsel and secretary.
