Ohio: Proposal would reimburse out-of-pocket co-pays

The Bureau of Workers' Compensation proposed a rule to ensure that injured workers can be reimbursed for out-of-pocket co-payments they made for medical services or supplies prior to the allowance of the claim or condition being treated.

The proposal also states that if the injured worker's health insurer requests, it may also be reimbursed for payments it made to or on behalf of the injured worker for medical services or supplies prior to the allowance of the claim or condition being treated, up to the amount the bureau would have paid to the health care provider for the service or supply. A public hearing on the proposal is scheduled for May 4 at 10 a.m. in Room 1, Level 2, 30 West Spring St., Columbus. Those interested in submitting written comments should e-mail Tom Sico at enotification@bwc.state.oh.us prior to the public hearing.
