ADAM HAMM was elected to the position of secretary-treasurer of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC). The North Dakota insurance commissioner will assume the responsibility on May 31, 2011, replacing Illinois Insurance Director Michael T. McRaith, who will be taking on the head post at the new Federal Insurance Office. Prior to becoming commissioner in 2007, Hamm served as a prosecutor for the Cass County State's Attorney's office.
JIM HAGEMAN was appointed as senior vice president for claims for global personal and small commercial insurance at the ACE Group. Before joining ACE, Hageman served as vice president of continuous performance improvement at The Hartford, and before that he held several multistate claims leadership positions at Progressive Insurance Co. starting in 1992.
BRUCE SCHNITZER will assume the role of CEO of the Paraline Group Ltd, effective July 1. He currently serves as chairman of the group at the Bermuda-based reinsurer and insurer, and will be succeeding the departing Jack Graham.
Paraline also announced that GREG BUTLER will assume the position of president of ICAT Managers, a Paraline subsidiary. Butler will continue in his role as active underwriter of Paraline's Syndicate 4242.
EDITH M. AGUILA was named vice president and underwriting manager for the mid-Atlantic regional office at Selective Insurance Group. She joined the specialty carrier in 1988 and has since held multiple underwriting positions.
VERE BRYAN was named vice president of commercial lines underwriting, lines of business and product development at Selective. Bryan joined Selective in 2010 as assistant vice president, general liability, umbrella and professional liability line of business manager. Prior to that, he was assistant vice president of casualty for Harleysville Insurance Co.
