JAMES R. MAGUIRE JR. was named the new CEO of Tokio Marine North America, a newly formed U.S. holding company of Tokio Marine Group that will serve as the parent all Tokio Marine Group entities in North America, including Philadelphia Insurance Cos., where Maguire is currently chairman and CEO.
JOHN P. PHALEN was elected to the board of directors at Everest Re Group Ltd., effective May 18. Phelan formerly served as chairman, president and CEO of Munich Re America Corp. and Munich Reinsurance America Inc. and served as a member of Munich Re's board of management until his retirement in 2007. Prior to assuming these positions in 2002, Phelan was president of Munich Reinsurance Co. of Canada for 16 years, having joined Munich Re in 1973.
PATRICK REILLY was named chief underwriting officer at Starr Accident & Health. Previously, he spent 14 years at AIG's accident and health unit, and before that, he worked at Cigna and Met Life.
Starr Cos. also announced that JOHN SCULLY joined Starr Accident & Health, consumer markets, as business development manager. Most recently, Scully was vice president of business development of BryanMark. Prior to that, he served as national strategic account executive for AIG.
DAVID GREGG was appointed as vice president of construction professional liability for the North American construction team at XL Insurance. He will be based in New York.
XL also named JASON LAMONICA as vice president of subcontractor default insurance. Also based in New York, he has more than 18 years of property/casualty insurance experience.
MIKE DASHFIELD will be the active underwriter with principal authority to write business at the new Lloyd's Syndicate 1945, which is being established by Sirius International Insurance Co., an affiliate of White Mountains Re Ltd.
MICHAEL FINNEGAN was named as the head of the new Stamford, Conn., office of Liberty Mutual Reinsurance. He also serves as senior vice president and casualty underwriting manager. Liberty Mutual also brought on TOM GREENE to its Stamford office.
ARMAND FELICIANO was appointed as vice president at the Association of California Insurance Cos. Feliciano joins the PCI affiliate with 17 years of legal, regulatory and legislative advocacy experience in California. He will be responsible for government affairs outreach on personal lines issues and regulatory efforts in California.
