... for attending boring state dinners in far-flung locales ... ... for racing down to Monte Carlo at attend the reinsurance Rendez Vous de Septembre ... ... for spilling your blood on the Lime St. battlefield .... ... for exercising patience with the sometimes incorrigible syndicates ... ... for contributing to building new capital requirements across the Continent ... ... for shoring up the good name of many an insurance underwriter ... ... for helping Lloyd's recover after its near-collapse more than a decade ago ... ... for keeping Lloyd's out of major scandals on your watch ... ... for skippering Lloyd's through the Great Recession almost unscathed ... ... for acting as a valued complement and a worthy opponent ... ... for holding fast in markets soft and hard ... ... for serving the U.K. government, private industry, and yourself and your family in the process ... ... for learning from the mistakes you made and hoping you will pass on those lessons .... ... for volunteering as an honorable emissary for your firm, your flag, your peers ... ... for bearing children, great grandchildren and what they are about to teach us all about renewal ...
