Prevent disability mind-set, physician advises

"Disability is a tragic and largely preventable epidemic," said Dr. Christopher Brigham, chairman of the San Diego-based Impairment Resources.

Injured workers who believe they are disabled may unnecessarily become so. Workers' comp participants, such as physicians and attorneys, can prevent disability mind-set among claimants and help them change their perceptions.
