Washington: Department questions classifications for comp insurance

The Department of Labor and Industries issued a preproposal statement of inquiry regarding amendments to general reporting rules and classifications for workers' compensation insurance.

Rules will be proposed to implement legislation requiring workers' compensation coverage for certain for-hire vehicle operators, including taxis and limousines. The department will review the industry and consider alternative methods of reporting other than by hours worked. Comments can be submitted by e-mail to moom235@lni.wa.gov or by calling (360) 902-4774.
