Oregon: Workers' rights to choose health care providers
The Workers' Compensation Division created a rulemaking advisory committee to consider proposing rules on workers' rights to choose health care providers.
The division noted that some employers and claims examiners may infringe on workers' rights to choose their health care providers by requiring them to see specific providers for non-emergency treatment or they do not inform workers of their treatment rights at the first report of injury. Legislation was filed on the issue, and the department agreed to discuss the problem and whether some parts of the solution could be addressed by a rule. The committee is scheduled to meet on Sept. 6.
