Washington: Safety and health grants program rules allow for funding
The Department of Labor and Industries adopted rules addressing the amendment to a statute that provides permanent funding for the Safety and Health Investment Projects Grants Program.
The rules state that at least 50 percent of the funds will be distributed to projects that foster workplace injury and illness prevention. At least 25 percent will be distributed to projects designed to develop and implement innovative and effective return-to-work programs for injured workers. Another 25 percent will go to projects that specifically address the needs of small businesses. The rules also explain the requirements of the advisory committee that will be formed. The rules went into effect on March 1.
