The guidelines state that urine drug screens should be done regularly and with a chain of custody. Providers must utilize the prescription monitoring program drug website maintained by the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs. Also, the injured worker and physician must sign an opioid treatment agreement and an informed consent document. The guideline does not apply to workers previously found to be permanently and totally disabled. The guidelines must be followed unless there is clear and convincing evidence to the contrary. The guidelines went into effect on April 2.
