Procedures were established for dismissing a lien claim for a lack of prosecution. The procedures become operative on Aug. 1. The filing requirements for lien claims were amended to provide that only original liens are required to be filed and not amended liens, and no supporting documentation is required to be filed. However, lien claimants are still required to serve all original liens, amended liens, and supporting documentation on the parties. New procedures for lien conferences and lien trials also were established. All defendants and all lien claimants must appear at a lien conference or trial without regard to the amount of the lien. Certain classes of lien claims, such as the lien claims of specified governmental entities and self-represented lien claimants with living expense, burial expense, and spousal or child support expense liens, are not subject to the lien conference or trial procedures.
