Ohio: Bureau spells out specific services, supplies not covered

The Bureau of Workers' Compensation proposed amendments to a rule regarding services and supplies never covered by the bureau.

Home furniture, a mattress for a nonhospital bed, home exercise equipment, home whirlpools, and unsupervised physical reconditioning programs are never considered to be durable medical equipment by the bureau. The bureau also stated that self-administered sympathetic therapy/interferential therapy, prescription smoking deterrent drugs outside an approved smoking cessation program, and drug screening of injured workers performed by employers or performed in the emergency room at the time of the injury at the request of the employer are not authorized or reimbursed by the bureau.
