Rhode Island: Division spells out information on cost-of-living increase
Total incapacity and partial incapacity benefits paid to injured workers will increase by 1.9 percent. Increases are paid by insurers and employers without an order of the court. The division said that late payment of the increase can result in the assessment of a 20 percent penalty on the unpaid amount. The division also issued an information letter stating that the new spendable base wage goes into effect on May 10. Those with questions about the cost-of-living increase should send an email to WCEdcUnit@dlt.ri.gov and those with questions about spendable earnings should send an email to WCClaimsAnalyst@dlt.ri.gov.
