Alaska: Board looks at medical billing and fees
The Workers' Compensation Board proposed amendments to regulations dealing with standards and procedures for billing and fees for medical treatment and services.
The changes establish procedures for medical provider submission of a bill for medical treatment or service. The proposed changes also clarify standards for the fee or charge for medical treatment or services not included in the medical fee schedule. The changes modify the standards and procedures for payment to a certified registered nurse anesthetist. The regulations are also changed to add a new subsection to establish procedures for publishing fee schedule information. The Department of Labor and Workforce Development scheduled a public hearing on May 3.
