Physicians, researchers, disability experts, government policymakers, and others recently gathered for an invitation-only forum to examine ways to prevent needless work disability.
Participants discussed challenges they face in engaging the medical community in helping older workers with disabilities or reduced functionality to stay at work and remain successfully employed.
"The need to improve the nature and quality of the data that flows between health care professionals and benefits administrators was highlighted," according to a report issued after the meeting. The session ended with "several promising strategies and actionable recommendations."
