The Work Comp Analysis Group on LinkedIn now has 20,000 members.
"My goal when starting the WCAG was to create an online discussion group where risk managers, adjusters, attorneys, regulators, and other workers' compensation professionals could network and share information," said Mark Walls, founder and manager of the group. "It grew to just over 2,000 members in the first year, which greatly exceeded my expectations."
Walls, the workers' compensation market research leader for Marsh, is also a program cochair of the National Workers' Compensation and Disability ConferenceŽ & Expo, produced by LRP Publications. "As cochair of the NWCDC, I find the discussions in the Work Comp Analysis Group to be a valuable tool in knowing what issues we should be focusing on for the conference," Walls said.
"In addition, the NWCDC subgroup provides tremendous interaction with conference attendees before and after the event. It is a great resource for conference attendees to interact with speakers and to plan social events."
Walls began the LinkedIn group in 2008. The group also provides an industry jobs board, a Twitter feed, and a resource center with industry blog feeds and links to rules and statutes in all U.S. jurisdictions.
"The fact that we now have 20,000 members is testament to just how complex and ever-changing the workers' compensation market is and the willingness of members to share their experiences and knowledge with others in the industry," Walls said.
