Trade Group Position Statements & Updates

This issue of the proposed IRS tax changes has not slowed down since the New Year. A recent release from the Self-Insurance Institute of America Inc. announced that it's got wind of talks between important figures in Congress and the Treasury Department and the IRS.

SIIA suggested that this news is huge--a "closing of the triangle" in the shuttle diplomacy that the trade group had carried out, along with representatives from the captive trade groups from Montana, South Carolina, and Washington, D.C., late in 2007. As for developments at the Vermont Captive Insurance Association, the group in conjunction with the Captive Insurance Companies Association, will be holding on Jan. 23 a special seminar on federal taxation of captives included in consolidated tax returns. Attend in person or by phone.
