CATHERINE KIM was appointed as vice president of the GCFac unit of Guy Carpenter & Co. LLC. GCFac is the dedicated facultative reinsurance unit for the reinsurance intermediary and global risk specialist. The move was effective as of December 10. Kim's focus is on overseeing Latin American and Asian client relationships, as well as developing new business for the GCFac casualty team. Kim is based out London. Previously, Kim had worked for four years as an account executive and broker in the international liability team at Willis.
MICHAEL P. ESPOSITO resigned from the board of directors of XL Capital Ltd. in Bermuda. The departure was considered earlier than expected, as Esposito had previously stated he would stay on until a successor was named for retiring CEO Brian M. O'Hara. Esposito is still board chairman at Security Capital Assurance Ltd., which the holding company for XL Capital Assurance Inc. and XL Financial Assurance Ltd. in Bermuda.
XL Capital Ltd. announced that CLIVE R. TOBIN will also retire from his post as CEO of insurance operations. The retirement will be effective on April 1, after which he will become vice chairman of XL Insurance Ltd and will assist with strategy and emerging markets.
DAVID B. DUCLOS
will succeed Tobin as chief executive office of insurance at XL. Duclos is currently the chief operating office of the insurance division. He's been with Bermuda-based XL since 2003, before which he was at Kemper Insurance Co. and Cigna Corp.
