The Family Business Research Center

The Wharton Global Family Alliance, part of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, is an academic research facility devoted to studying the governance, philanthropy and wealth management of family businesses.

For a sample of its research, check out "How Do Family Ownership, Control, and Management Affect Firm Value?" The paper's conclusions, among many others, include "When descendants serve as CEOs, firm value is destroyed."

The Wharton Global Family Alliance Web site includes other research papers, case studies and contact information.
