BRIAN DUPERREAULT was named chief executive officer and president for Marsh & McLennan Cos. Inc., parent corporation of insurance broker Marsh. The much-anticipated announcement came after the December ouster of former president and CEO Michael Cherkasky. Duperreault has more than 30 years of experience in the industry, the last third of which had been at Bermuda-based insurer Ace Ltd., where he was chairman and CEO from 1994 to 2004 and, most recently, a nonexecutive chairman. Duperreault said in an interview that the brokerage unit would be a focus of his attention at MMC. At least two analysts, Credit Suisse and Stifel Nicolaus, upgraded the MMC stock after the announcement.

Marsh also appointed KELLEY BUCHANAN to lead its U.S. private client business. Buchanan's responsibilities will include the property/casualty, life/health and executive benefits businesses for high-net-worth individuals. She joins Marsh from Travelers Companies Inc., where she held a number of key leadership positions, including senior vice president of Enterprise Business Intelligence and Analytics and president of Personal Lines Specialty Operations.

Willis Group Holdings Ltd. appointed ALENA WATCHORN to its Mergers & Acquisitions Practice Group as an executive director. Watchorn comes to Willis from HSBC Insurance Brokers, where she headed up the corporate finance team and simultaneously built an environmental insurance advisory team. Her experience covers warranty and indemnity insurance in the London market, particularly the development of transactional insurance products, advising on buy-side warranty insurance placements, bespoke tax insurances and insurance-backed transactions.

Beecher Carlson Inc. expanded its National Energy practice with the appointment of CHARLES PIERPONT as managing director. Pierpont brings 20 years experience in the power-generation industry. He previously served as area executive president for Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., specializing in private-equity and investor-owned portfolios in asset-intensive businesses.

Aon Consulting Worldwide, the global human capital consulting organization of Aon Corp., announced that JILL GEORGE joined its New York office as senior vice president in the talent solutions division of the Human Capital practice. Most recently, George worked as an independent consultant assisting company executives with organizational and talent management processes. Prior to this role, George worked as a partner in Mercer Delta's New York office building the Executive Talent Management practice.

Excess-and-surplus lines wholesaler, Jimcor Agencies, named JAN JEPSEN branch manager of its Montvale, N.J., office. With 20 years of experience, Jepsen most recently was a senior vice president at a startup wholesale insurance broker.
