Alec Finch & Co. Ltd. appointed PAULA WILLIAMS as managing director. Williams joined the company in September 2007 from Jardine Lloyd Thompson, where she had been a regional managing director since 2001. Alec Finch is the broking operation of a European insurance, risk management and employee benefits group.

Endurance Specialty Holdings Ltd., a Bermuda-based specialty provider of property/casualty insurance and reinsurance, hired Win Hotchkiss Jr. as senior vice president, capital markets, at Endurance Worldwide Reinsurance. Hotchkiss previously founded his own business, Financial Capital Advisors LLC, and has worked in various positions at Marsh & McLennan Cos.

Endurance also hired Robert Needle as executive vice president, excess casualty and professional lines, at Endurance Specialty Insurance Ltd., subject to approval by the Bermuda Department of Immigration. Needle spent 27 years with Alexander & Alexander and Aon in various capacities, and most recently served as an attorney in the insurance practice group of Gibbons PC.

XL Insurance, the global insurance operations of XL Capital Ltd. in Hamilton, Bermuda, appointed Daniel Maurer chief underwriter, middle market, property/casualty, for Continental Europe and Asia. Before joining XL, Maurer led senior management positions at Chubb Corp. in Europe and Switzerland, where his last role was casualty manager, Europe.
