Choose a Nat-CAT Side

The industry remains sharply divided over the idea of a federal catastrophe fund with Allstate and State Farm supporting the concept while Liberty Mutual remains opposed. The issue also appears to have driven Allstate out of the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America, where it clashed with Liberty. Find out where you stand.

ProtectingAmerica.org is the mouthpiece of those who want government action, such as a national catastrophe fund, to handle the nation's exposure to natural devastation. On its site you can find disaster-related news, ways to connect to your congresspersons and more info on the organization's central tenants: understanding CAT risk, strengthening first responders, smarter development and building codes, and local, regional and national CAT funds.

To get the other side of the argument, get the industry perspective from the Reinsurance Association of America and the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America.
